Clearing relationship and industry context

Historical context

MF Global Holdings Ltd. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on October 31, 2011, in what was at the time the eighth-largest bankruptcy in United States history. The collapse resulted in a shortfall of approximately $1.6 billion in segregated customer funds. This archive documents Argo Futures Group's institutional relationship with MF Global and preserves primary source materials relevant to that history.

For Argo, this was not an abstract market event. The clearing relationship formed part of the operational infrastructure through which customer business moved, making the collapse a significant episode in the firm's institutional history.
